Abass Maazu learned the art of working with colourful African fabrics and fine leather in Ghana and later brought his skills and knowledge to a township in Cape Town.
Together with Thuleka Duke, he started ATG EKASI with a simple but meaningful purpose: to celebrate the beauty of African craftsmanship while creating meaningful work and opportunities for people in Gugulethu.
What began in their own hands has grown into a place where skills are shared, craftsmanship is passed on and a new generation is given the opportunity to learn, create and grow.
At its heart, ATG EKASI is about more than making beautiful things. It is about people, pride and the power of creating something with your own hands.
